Optogenetic approaches offer huge advantages in spatial, temporal and cell-type specific control of neuronal activity. For that, a precise delivery of light achieved by optrodes is fundamental. In this article we compared a common used flat-cleaved optical fiber to a tapered optical fiber which aims a more uniform illumination of neurons along the dorso-ventral axis of the medial prefrontal cortex.
