Methodological Approach for Optogenetic Manipulation of Neonatal Neuronal Networks

Optogenetic manipulations increased the understanding of neuronal network activity in the adult brain, but methodological difficulties hampered similar interrogation at neonatal age. We introduce a protocol to control the activity of specific neuronal populations by light, starting from early postnatal development. This protocol opens new perspectives for the investigation of early network activity and activity dependent maturation. [link]
